The stretch of the Rio Grande where we operate is a pristine high country river with Class 2-3 rapids and unparalleled scenery. May through June is the best time for white water action, but no matter what the season, the river has its own character and each trip is as rewarding as the first. Mountain Man Tours holds permits for the length of the Rio Grande in Colorado. We tailor your trip to meet your needs, but generally take you to the section of river that we believe you will enjoy the most. River levels often dictate which section we run. At high water, we recommend that rafters wear our free rain gear and rent neoprene water boots. (Boots are available as rentals in the river shop at Mtn Man.)
We offer both oar-guided and paddle-guided trips. If you choose oars, your guide will maneuver the raft down the river allowing you to relax and take in the scenery. If you choose paddles, you will assist the guide by listening to commands and paddling the raft. At extreme low water, we require all boats to be oar-guided. |
